Modern Kitchen

Oh, how I wish I had the before pictures for you! But my photographic memory serves me well. These are the finishes before I transformed the old dark kitchen into a new modern kitchen in a beautiful Spanish-style home in San Marino, California.

The Process:

  • The upper cabinets were removed and replaced with open shelves.
  • All the existing cabinets had a dark wood stain as shown above. We replaced all the lower cabinets with new, white Shaker-style cabinetry.
  • The general layout of the counter & cabinets remained the same L-shape as shown above.
  • The old double sink is replaced with a new farmhouse sink for ease of cleaning large pots, oversized trays, etc.
  • The once-yellow walls are now a crisp white to match the new subway tile backsplash transforming it into a more modern kitchen.
  • Beautiful white marble replaced speckled black and beige granite counters.
  • New wall sconces above the open shelves on each side add charm. The black finish of the light fixtures matches the support brackets of the open shelves.
  • The wood finish adds a warm touch to the crisp, white, modern kitchen. A nice touch.
